The Fund’s investment objective is to achieve a combination of capital growth and income over rolling 5-year periods while seeking to target volatility of 4-8% per annum, by employing diversified multi-asset strategies. There is no guarantee that volatility in this range will be achieved and it has been chosen as it represents a level of risk which is appropriate for the Fund. Volatility is a statistical measure of the Fund’s possible range of outcomes. For the Fund, volatility will be calculated as the annualised standard deviation of daily Fund prices over rolling 12-month periods. The Fund is actively managed, meaning that the manager will use their expertise to select investments to meet the objective.

Global equities rebounded over the month of August, rallying close to 2% as strong corporate earnings and global economic data lifted investor sentiment. The S&P 500 recorded its best August performance in five years, despite ongoing uncertainty in the Middle East. Broad commodities gained over the month. The Bloomberg Commodity Index experienced a total monthly return of over 6% for a second consecutive month. Gold was a particular standout performer, rising close to 10% over the month as central bank buying and diversification away from the US dollar returned.
The fund increased exposure to equites over the month as investor sentiment reached overly depressed levels in July. The Investment Clock remained in Stagflation during August although this could change quite rapidly depending on the uncertain situation continuing to play out in the Middle East. The funds held a negative tactical view to global government bonds. This preference for stocks over bonds added value over the month.
The fund maintained a positive tactical position in commodities in August and benefitted from the broad move higher in the asset class as geopolitical uncertainty in the Middle East continued. A tactical positive position in gold was added after having been neutral on the asset class since April. This added value over the month.

Past performance is not a guide to future performance. The value of investments and any income from them may go down as well as up and is not guaranteed. Investors may not get back the amount invested.
The insolvency of any institutions providing services such as safekeeping of assets or acting as counterparty to derivatives or other instruments, may expose the Fund to financial loss.
Should the issuer of a fixed income security become unable to make income or capital payments, or their rating is downgraded, the value of that investment will fall. Fixed income securities that have a lower credit rating can pay a higher level of income and have an increased risk of default.
This fund may undertake transactions in derivatives and forward transactions (both on exchange and over the counter (OTC)). These may include interest rate swaps and interest rate futures for the purposes of meeting the investment objective, protecting the risk to capital, duration and credit management, as well as for hedging. While the discerning use of derivatives can be beneficial, derivatives also involve specific risks. These risks relate specifically to market risk, management risk, credit risk, liquidity risk, the risk of mispricing or improper valuation of derivatives and the risk that derivatives may not correlate perfectly with underlying assets, interest rates and indices. The use of derivative instruments may from time to time alter the economic exposure of the fund causing it to deviate significantly from the performance of the market as a whole. The use of these derivatives will be within the parameters allowed for linked funds by the Financial Conduct Authority and Prudential Regulation Authority.
Investing in Emerging Markets may provide the potential for greater rewards but carries greater risk due to the possibility of high volatility, low liquidity, currency fluctuations, the adverse effect of social, political and economic instability, weak supervisory structures and accounting standards.
The Fund may engage in Efficient Portfolio Management (EPM) techniques, including holdings of derivative instruments. Whilst intended to reduce risk, the use of these instruments may expose the Fund to increased price volatility.
Investing in assets denominated in a currency other than the base currency of the Fund means the value of the investment can be affected by changes in exchange rates.
The Fund is valued using the latest available price for each underlying investment, however it may not fully reflect changing stockmarket conditions and the Fund may apply a ‘fair value price’ to all or part of its portfolio to mitigate this risk. In extreme liquidity conditions, redemptions in the underlying investments, and/or the Fund itself, may be deferred or suspended.
Fixed interest securities are particularly affected by trends in interest rates and inflation. If interest rates go up, the value of capital may fall, and vice versa. Inflation will also decrease the real value of capital. Unlike the income from a single fixed interest security, the level of income (yield) from a fund is not fixed and may go up and down. Bond yields (and as a consequence bond prices) are determined by market perception as to the appropriate level of yields given the economic background.
In difficult market conditions the value of certain fund investments may be difficult to value and harder to sell, or sell at a fair price, resulting in unpredictable falls in the value of your holding.
